The ‘Resident Evil’ Franchise Ranked: Part One

by We Love Horror
Resident Evil is among the most important video game franchises around, especially in how it pushed horror games into the limelight. Since 1996, there have been highs, lows, and complete misfires along the way, and after a dark time for the survival horror giant, it’s started to reclaim some of its majesty in recent years. The question is, where do those highs and lows rank in the Resident Evil pantheon? We’ve taken every Resident Evil title, spin-offs and all, and ranked them. Of course, you may feel differently where their order is concerned. In this first part (because there’s a [...]

[Based on the Hit Film] The Many Video Game Incarnations of ‘The Evil Dead’

by We Love Horror
The Evil Dead franchise has always been ripe to make the jump to video games. Thankfully, it has done just that on numerous occasions (with varying results). With news that Bruce is involved in another video game adaptation, it seems only fair to look back at some of the various games that have used “the ultimate experience in gruelling terror” as an excuse to wield a digital chainsaw and boomstick. The Evil Dead – Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum (1981) Color me surprised when I found out this existed (and I’m not the only one). Produced by UK-based Palace Software, the [...]

by We Love Horror
In 2010, Dead Space devs Visceral Games took a bit of a break from the series and gave us a game based on Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. You know it as Dante’s Inferno. And now, it’s the latest game added to Xbox One’s backwards compatibility service, joining the likes of the original Darksiders, Deadly Premonition and of course, the entire Dead Space series. The game followed Dante as a Templar knight from the Crusade, who is guided by the spirit of the poet Virgil. In spite of what we were initially led to believe regarding Darksiders III being delayed to 2019, it appears that we’ll be getting the game much sooner than that. Check Out Fun Collectible Photos That Were Going to Be Added to ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’

by We Love Horror
Nobody is more bummed about the end of new content for Friday the 13th: The Game than the game’s developers at Gun Media, who had been working hard on new content that was soon going to be arriving in the game. As we already knew, for starters, Jason X‘s “Uber Jason” was going to be added as a playable character, as was the Grendel spaceship map. Sadly, no new content will *ever* be added to the game again, as a pending lawsuit between Sean Cunningham and Victor Miller has put the entire franchise on tentative hold. And when game developers [...]
