Mega Rare Cut of ‘The Shining’ With Never Seen Deleted Scene Goes Up for Auction

by We Love Horror
Over on the Italian auction website Aste Bolaffi, the late Stanley Kubrick’s assistant, Emilio D’Alessandro, has just listed a handful of pieces of Kubrick memorabilia from films such as A Clockwork Orange. Dr. Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut. Most exciting for horror fans are two choice items from The Shining. Easily the coolest item in the entire auction is an ultra rare cut of Kubrick’s The Shining that runs longer than any of the versions we’ve ever seen, as it contains a deleted scene that has to date NEVER been released to the public. The auction describes… “Long cut of the [...]

‘Unearthed & Untold’ Directors Talk About the Path to ‘Pet Sematary’ [Interview]

by We Love Horror
In the long line of Stephen King adaptations, few have the prestige and fanfare of 1989’s Pet Sematary. It’s one of those films that works on many levels. It’s a great horror film, offering up the chills and thrills that we all love, but it’s also a wonderful story about family and the difficulties that accompany the loss of a loved one. Pet Sematary was also the first King film to be directed by a woman and remains one of the most influential horror films ever directed by a woman, making our top ten. The cult of Pet Sematary is so grand [...]

New ‘The Sinking City’ Update Video Discusses Demo, New Footage

by We Love Horror
The fine folks at Frogwares have released a new update video for their Lovecraftian game, The Sinking City. With GDC (aka the Game Developers Conference) set to start tomorrow, the team have been hard at work polishing up their demo, which is the subject of the update. This will be the first time that the game will be shown to the public, so of course it makes sense to document it. The video shows the demo’s production process that started way back in November, and the difficulties that the team faced when making the demo. It also discusses the ‘ethical’ [...]

Before Slender Man and CreepyPastas There Was ‘Ted the Caver’!

by We Love Horror
I’ve always been fascinated by early-internet horror. Before the rise of Slender Man, Creepypastas, and spooky YouTube videos, most people got their occasional dose of online scares from quirky flash games or viral e-mails spreading updated versions of familiar urban legends. However, that would all change in 2001, as the internet would be graced with an iconic scary story that would inspire many more to come, a tale that we now know as the infamous Ted the Caver. In a time preceding the popularization of MySpace (or even the invention of Facebook, for that matter), customizable web pages were all the [...]

Hulu Returning to the Era of Satanic Panic With Drama Series “Demons”

by We Love Horror
We’ve learned tonight that Hulu is in development on a series titled “Demons,” set against the backdrop of the hysteria known as “Satanic Panic” in the ’80s/90s. As outlined by Wikipedia, “Satanic ritual abuse was the subject of a moral panic that originated in the United States in the 1980s, spreading throughout many parts of the world by the late 1990s. Allegations of SRA involved reports of physical and sexual abuse of people in the context of occult or Satanic rituals.” The series is written by Juliet Lashinsky-Revene, and it revolves around Marilyn Jones, the seductive “patient zero” in the frenzy surrounding Satanic Ritual Abuse, and her husband, Bennett Lewis, a brilliant but manipulative psychiatrist. [...]

Rob Zombie Confirms Sid Haig’s Return In ‘3 From Hell’!

by We Love Horror
I tweeted out yesterday that Sig Haig would be returning as Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie‘s 3 From Hell, his now-filming follow-up to both House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects. Zombie not only confirmed this in his new Instagram post, but also shared a photo that gives us a clue to how the film may begin. What you see below is a Bain Prison County van that Zombie says is transporting some villains, presumably Captain Spaulding, Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie), and Otis (Bill Moseley), who we all thought died in a hail of bullets at the end of [...]

FX Orders Pilot Episode of Alex Garland’s Sci-fi Series “Devs”

by We Love Horror
Ex Machina director Alex Garland just returned to the sci-fi space with second feature Annihilation, and he’s already in development on a new television series. Deadline reports that FX has given a pilot order to Garland’s “Devs,“ an episode that Garland himself wrote and will be directing. He will also executive produce. “In Devs, which will be produced by FX Productions, a young computer engineer, Lily, investigates the secretive development division of her employer, a cutting-edge tech company based in San Francisco, which she believes is behind the disappearance of her boyfriend.” Garland recently revealed that the 8 episodes he has written tell a complete story. [...]

Is ‘The Strangers: Prey at Night’ Really Based On a True Story?

by We Love Horror
Like The Strangers, new film The Strangers: Prey at Night begins with the message that the film you’re about to see is based on true events. But how much of what made its way on screen actually happened in real life? Well, if you’re having nightmares about murders at neon-lit pools and flaming trucks, you’ll be happy to know all that stuff is fiction. Actually, the events that inspired The Strangers: Prey at Night are the same as the events that inspired writer/director Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers. Meaning that the only thing “based on true events” about Prey at Night is [...]
