[Trailer] Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” Looks Dark, Scary and Totally Awesome

by We Love Horror
A witch’s 16th birthday is very special. Not that we weren’t already, but we’re now 100% all-in on Netflix’s comic book adaptation “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,“ which debuts its first footage in a teaser today. The teaser trailer is loaded with creepy imagery, doubling down on the series’ promise to be *so much* darker than Sabrina’s first TV series. This looks like pure Halloween glory. “Chilling Adventures” is headed our way on October 26. The series is set to be an hour-long drama that will reimagine the story of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age tale that traffics in horror, [...]

Stevan Mena’s Slasher ‘Malevolence’ Getting Its First Blu-ray Release This October

by We Love Horror
As we exclusively told you earlier this summer, director Stevan Mena has completed production on Malevolence 3, the third chapter in the saga of killer Martin Bristol that began with Malevolence in 2003 and continued with prequel Bereavement. The third film will be released on Blu-ray on October 12, and we’ve just learned that on that same date, Malevolence hits Blu-ray for the first time and Bereavement gets a new Blu! Malevolence has been given a brand new HD scan from the 35mm camera negative. In the brand new Malevolence 3… “The hunt is on for Martin Bristol. Tortured and abused at the hands of his psychotic [...]

The James Wan-Produced “Swamp Thing” Aims to Be Rated R With “Graphic Violence”

by We Love Horror
Underworld director Lin Wiseman is directing the pilot episode of DC Universe’s “Swamp Thing,“ being produced by James Wan, and we’ve got some damn good news on that front courtesy of a chat between /Film and writer Gary Dauberman. The series, Dauberman says, aims to push the limits as far as possible, shooting for a hard “R” rating! “We always set out to make Swamp Thing as hard R as we could and go graphic with the violence, with the adult themes and make it as scary as possible,” Dauberman told the site. “Because we’re doing it through the DC streaming service, they really pushed us, although they didn’t [...]

[TGS 2018] Swords, Fire and Blood Aplenty in Latest ‘Sekiro’ Trailer

by We Love Horror
Tokyo Game Show 2018 hasn’t even started yet, and we’re already getting some goodies. Case in point: From Software have unleashed a new trailer for their ancient Japan action-adventure RPG, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 22, 2019, Sekiro definitely looks like it captures the atmosphere of Dark Souls, albeit you’re in 16th century Japan fighting demons. But hey, it looks and sounds cool. Unfortunately, I don’t know Japanese, so I can’t say what exactly the subtitles or narrators are saying. Regardless, the amount of plasma and swordplay in the trailer, [...]

[TIFF Review] ‘Halloween’ Delivers a Laurie vs Michael Showdown 40 Years in the Making

by We Love Horror
It’s been twenty years since we last saw Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) face off against Michael Myers (no, I’m not counting Resurrection). Back then she was an overprotective drunk headmistress of a prep school. In David Gordon Green’s 2018 franchise relaunch, Laurie isn’t drinking away her trauma: she’s battle prepping for it. Gone is the alcohol dependency (mostly) and her paralyzing fear of the Shape; 40 years later and Laurie Strode is a badass doomsday survivalist. The events of Halloween: H20 may have been washed away in this canon retcon, but the experience of seeing Curtis return to arguably [...]

Australian production, sales and distribution outfit Odin’s Eye has closed a UK deal for its dark, dramatic comedy Brothers’ Nest with Signature Entertainment, reports ScreenDaily. The deal comes in advance of the film’s UK premiere at Grimmfest, Manchester’s festival of horror, cult and fantastic film, which celebrates its 10th anniversary edition in early October. Brothers’ Nest, which had its world premiere at this year’s SXSW, is the second film directed by Clayton Jacobson, who also co-stars alongside his real-life brother, Shane Jacobson in the story of two brothers intent on murdering their stepfather before their dying mother change her will in his [...]

Haunted RV Thriller, ‘The Toybox,’ Gets Limited Theatrical Release

by We Love Horror
Family road trips are often meant to bring families together via fun-filled adventure. More often than not they turn into living hell on four wheels for everyone involved because who likes to spend time with their family? No one, really. Now imagine the RV you’re traveling in is possessed and trying to destroy you? Not great. Unfortunately for Denise Richards and Mischa Barton that’s precisely what they have to deal with in the new supernatural thriller, The Toybox, from ClownTown director Tom Nagel. The Toybox will open in Los Angeles on September 14th for a one week run at Laemmle’s [...]

‘Death Stranding’ Heads to TGS 2018 (With Guests)

by We Love Horror
When we last heard from Hideo Kojima and the epic saga that is Death Stranding, he was teasing a potential appearance of the game at this year’s Game Awards. Well, it looks like we’ll be getting something even before that, as Kojima Productions have announced that they’ll be having a stage event at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. The Death Stranding panel will be held on September 23rd, which is the last day of the event. There’s no specific mention of gameplay (judging from Google Translate), but Kojima will be there, alongside “gorgeous voice actors” (who will be announced at [...]

“The Walking Dead” Season 9 Adds Comic Book Characters Tammy Rose and Earl

by We Love Horror
Some more Season 9 casting news for “The Walking Dead” comes to us courtesy of Skybound tonight, the site reporting that Brett Butler is Tammy Rose and John Finn is Earl in the upcoming season, two characters surely familiar to readers of the comic books. The site details… “First introduced in Issue 135, Tammy Rose is an ornery woman who lives at the Hilltop Colony with her husband Morton and son Brandon. Not much is known about her life before the apocalypse, but we do know she is fiercely protective of her family. In fact, the first time we see her [...]

“Fallout: Miami” Team Talks Story And More in Latest Update

by We Love Horror
The team behind the Fallout 4 mode “Fallout: Miami” recently posted their August progress recap (their first monthly update video), along with a lengthy blog post and some cool concept art and model progress. The recap actually deals with the juicy backstory for the mod, which is still being worked on. The story for the “Fallout: Miami” follows the Sole Survivor (aka you) in the year 2287, ten years after the Battle of Raven Rock, which took place in Fallout 3. Two years before the fall of Raven Rock, The Enclave sent a team to Miami Beach to establish a [...]
