[Deals] The Complete ‘Leprechaun’ Blu-ray Collection Has Dropped Down to $15!

by We Love Horror
All things Swamp Thing-related have blended together in my mind. As a child, I was certainly familiar with Swamp Thing and enjoyed him on my television set many times. A lot of that, I’m sure, was from the TV show because I watched wrestling all the time so my TV was basically on USA Network nonstop. As far as the two films are concerned I’m not certain if I watched them or not. My guess is I did, but I really don’t know. I decided to put an end to that confusion recently my watching the second film, The Return of [...]

‘Angels of Death’ set for Release on the Nintendo Switch June 28th

by We Love Horror
I can’t say that I’m familiar with Playism’s psychological horror game Angels of Death. The game was originally released as Freeware, but has since made its way to Steam. It’s also spawned a manga adaptation, and an anime adaptation that’s scheduled to air later this summer. And now, the game is headed to the Nintendo Switch, where it will be on the Nintendo eShop June 28th for $14.99. You can also pre-order it now for a 10% discount. The game is divided up into four parts, and centres on Ray, a girl who awakens in a room resembling a basement, [...]

The Dreamcast’s ‘Blue Stinger’ Was a Campy, Messy Attempt to Breathe New Life Into Survival Horror

by We Love Horror
We re-visit the bonkers madness of ‘Blue Stinger,’ the Dreamcast’s first and most ridiculous foray into the survival horror genre “What will you do if the monster attacks you when you’re butt-naked?”“Then I’ll fight back butt-naked!”  When the Dreamcast was fresh on the market, many of the examples of innovative graphics and gameplay in its titles spoke to a whole new generation of gaming that could do wonders for the survival horror genre (there’s a reason that Resident Evil CODE: Veronica was originally a Dreamcast exclusive). If titles like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Clock Tower could be so effective [...]

This Prop Artist is Making T-Rex Foot Garbage Cans That You Can Buy for a Lot of Money

by We Love Horror
No dinosaurs were harmed in the making of this product. They promise. You’ve probably never imagined throwing your trash into the foot of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, in fact I can pretty much guarantee that, but prop artist Richard Riley doesn’t really care if you’ve been asking for such a product… he went ahead and made one anyway. Yes, through Regal Robot, you can now purchase a hand-made T-rex foot garbage can. “This 100% faux taxidermy can function as a waste paper basket or (if you’d like to request customization) an umbrella or cane holder or even a planter,” the company [...]

Meet ‘The Nun’ Star Bonnie Aarons, Who’s Been Giving You Nightmares for Nearly 20 Years

by We Love Horror
Whether you even realized it or not, Bonnie Aarons gave you nightmares long before The Conjuring 2 turned her into the most terrifying demon-nun in horror movie history. It’s kind of wild that Valak, who gets her own spinoff prequel courtesy of this year’s The Nun, has become such a memorable horror icon, because she actually wasn’t even originally supposed to appear in The Conjuring 2. Initially, Valak was embodied by a devil-like creature, but James Wan brilliantly came up with the concept of the evil nun very late in the game. According to many reports, the Nun was actually [...]

Paramount, Platinum Dunes and Tyler Perry Join Forces for Thriller ‘I Am Yours’

by We Love Horror
Moving away from horror remakes, Platinum Dunes is putting more of a focus on original genre cinema, and they hit a big time home run this year with A Quiet Place. Up next, Deadline reports today, Dunes is producing a thriller titled I Am Yours with Tyler Perry, which Paramount Pictures just closed a six-figure deal on. The spec script was written by Ryan Belenzon and Jeffrey Gelber, and it’s being described as a thriller with a Fatal Attraction-like stalker vibe. Perry will produce alongside Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.

Handy Chart Lays Out the ‘Halloween’ Franchise’s “Choose Your Own Adventure” Timeline

by We Love Horror
The franchise gets real interesting with this year’s David Gordon Green-directed Halloween, as it’s not quite a continuation of the original franchise or Rob Zombie’s remake franchise. Instead, the Jamie Lee Curtis-starring film picks up 40 years after the events of John Carpenter’s Halloween, disregarding *every* subsequent film in the series. In other words, Laurie Strode’s various returns in the past have been retconned. “It’s this beautiful root… Halloween is like this old growth and it can branch off into a new way,” Curtis explained to us on the film’s set earlier this year. “And as far as I’m concerned, the past [...]

Blue Underground Working on 4K Restoration of ‘Maniac’ from Previously Lost 16mm Negative!

by We Love Horror
Over the weekend, Diabolik reports, director William Lustig announced at a special screening of 1980’s Maniac that the original camera negative for the film has been found and already scanned in 4K, and Blue Underground announces today that they’ll be the ones presenting the brand new 4K restoration, from the previously lost 16mm camera negative! The company teases, “The new 4K master is leaps and bounds ahead of everything seen before, finally presenting MANIAC as it was originally shot FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!” Diabolik adds, “The film was shot in 16mm and then blown up to 35mm for theatrical release. [...]

[E3 2018] ‘Sea of Solitude’ Trailer Explores the Horror of Loneliness

by We Love Horror
E3 2018 is officially upon us, and what better way to kick things off than with a fresh trailer for a game that was actually announced way back in 2015. Jo-Mei Games’ Sea of Solitude will be published by Electronic Arts under its EA Originals banner, and is looking at an early 2019 release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Sea of Solitude is described by creator and Jo-Mei Games’ Creative Director Cornelia Geppert as being created at one of the lonliest times of her life, and how that loneliness can turn people into monsters. “I think that is [...]

A24’s ‘Hereditary’ Receives Brutal D+ CinemaScore

by We Love Horror
It was just announced that Ari Aster‘s outrageously hyped Hereditary received a brutal D+ CinemaScore in its opening weekend. Many fans didn’t buy into the hype that began after its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, before gaining the support of even more critics out of the SXSW Film Festival. To put it in perspective, A24’s The Witch received a C- CinemaScore during its opening weekend. Even so, the hype got people into theaters with the film earning an estimated $5M on Friday, which could put it around $12M for the weekend. Not too shabby for a low budget, anti-Hollywood horror drama. Still, the CinemaScore could indicate a huge [...]
