Not imaginary. Not a friend. The next installment of SYFY’s horror anthology premieres this October, with “Channel Zero: The Dream Door” arriving in time for Halloween on October 26. Episodes will air one per night, the season culminating on Halloween night. The new season stars horror icon Barbara Crampton, Brandon Scott (“Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block”, “Greys Anatomy”), Maria Sten (Straight Outta Compton), Steven Robertson (“Elementary”) and Steven Weber (“Wings”). Based on the “creepypasta” short story “Hidden Door” by Charlotte Bywater, “Channel Zero: The Dream Door” follows newlyweds Jillian (Sten) and Tom Hodgson (Scott), who have each brought secrets into their marriage. [Video] Bacardi Channels Horror Classics for Fun VHS-Style Halloween Advertisement

by We Love Horror
With a bat as their logo, you could say that Bacardi‘s offerings are “Halloweeny” all year round, and as it turns out, Halloween is actually the best time of the year for the company. As the company’s creative director just explained to A.List, “Halloween is our biggest occasion. Every year we do something different for the holiday. We own it.” This year, Bacardi teamed with a horror production house for a fun promotional video that serves up a recipe for a mixed drink known as “The Zombie,” presented as a VHS-style ad that begins with a tape being slid into a [...]

[TGS 2018] New ‘Death Stranding’ Trailer Reveals Man in the Golden Mask

by We Love Horror
Hideo Kojima had downplayed the chance of there being much new to show of Death Stranding at the Tokyo Games Show, but we did get something in a short trailer with a new character revealed. The trailer sees Norman Reedus’ Sam happen upon a man with a Southern drawl, dressed in similar garb (including that baby in a jar strapped to his front) and a striking gold skull mask. That man, dubbed ‘Man in the Golden Mask’,  doesn’t seem like a big fan of Sam considering the ‘present’ he leaves him. Taking off his faceplate and driving it into the [...]

[Fantastic Fest Review] Netflix’s ‘Apostle’ Elevates Folk Horror with Gut-Churning Brutality

by We Love Horror
A period set horror thriller that sees a brother sent to a remote island to retrieve his sister from the clutches of a religious cult instantly brings folk horror films of the ‘60s and ‘70s to mind. Films like The Wicker Man or even The Witchfinder General. While it takes its time to unveil the mysteries within the isle of Erisden, Apostle sets itself apart from any folk horror we knew before thanks to a visceral, no holds barred third act that will leave you on edge. That’s because this was written and directed by Gareth Evans, the mind behind [...]

With the ‘Killer Klowns’ Taking Over Halloween Horror Nights, the Chiodo Brothers Talk Sequel

by We Love Horror
Bloody Disgusting was on hand at the opening weekend of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando this past Friday night, and for me personally, the highlight was seeing 1988’s Killer Klowns from Outer Space represented at the event. Orlando is playing host to a Klowns-themed “scare zone” this year, which is loaded with various different Klowns as well as movie-quality props and even the Terenzi brothers’ ice cream truck. To really sell the whole deal, the film’s iconic scored is piped into the park as you walk through the maze. For a Klowns mega fan, it’s pure heaven on Earth. [...]

‘The Predator’ Wins the Box Office as ‘The Nun’ Tops $200M; ‘Slender Man’ Nears $50M’

by We Love Horror
As expected, The Predator won this weekend’s box office with an estimated $24M domestic. It’s an interesting film for 20th Century Fox who allegedly spent $88M+ on the Shane Black-directed sequel, which means it needs to cross at the very least $300M worldwide to break even. This weekend wasn’t strong enough domestically, with the film’s success riding on international numbers (updating as they’re reported). I always wonder, how does the release of a franchise film also affect home video numbers and franchising? These are things to always think about. As for New Line Cinema’s The Nun, it took a slight [...]
